In 2014, we instituted Share the Plate Sunday. On the first Sunday of every month, for six months, all non-designated funds collected in the offering will be set aside for a designated charity. The Community Action Council selects a local charity whose work reflects our values and principles. A new charity is selected every six months. In the late summer of 2014, we awarded over $6,000 to our first recipient, the MacDonald Training Center. The second recipient charity for 2014 is Tampa Bay Harvest.

Our Migrant Farmworkers Basket collects non-perishable food that is delivered to a child care center providing services to local migrant workers.
In November the tree goes up with Foster Angels, and members go shopping to purchase new gifts for children in foster care. Wrapped gifts are picked up in early December to be delivered to homes in time for the holidays.

We are a supportive community, and many members support a variety of social justice projects as individuals. We pull together when needed. An example is a recent Cuban refugee, an older gentleman named Rodolfo who lives near our church and started doing grounds work as a way of keeping busy. After learning that Rodolfo lives in a single wide trailer with eight other adults, a member has coordinated a collection from several church members to provide him with work to supplement his income and help him find a new home.
