Dottie Mann, Denominational Affairs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Our Unitarian Universalist congregation is a member of the West Central Cluster, Florida District, and a part of the Southern Region. We have been consistently active in the Cluster, always having members attend the annual Christmas Service, held each year in Tarpon Springs, the District Annual Meeting held in the spring at various locations around the District, earlier this year in Vero Beach, and various workshops offered by the Cluster and District. In February, 2014 we sent over twenty congregants to a workshop in St. Petersburg which focused on various aspects of church life. Each March the Cluster sponsors a \u201cRenewal\u201d service in Clearwater; the speaker in 2014 was Jim Key, President of the Unitarian Universalist Association.<\/p>\n

Our Florida District includes the state of Florida (but not the panhandle), and one congregation in Georgia, and the Virgin Islands. There are currently forty-five active congregations in our District; the Southern Region includes Florida, Mid-South, Southeast, and the Southwest Districts of our UUA. Our District has an active Chalice Lighter program, which encourages and supports growth of Unitarian Universalism by awarding grants to member congregations and clusters. Members of our congregation are Chalice Lighters.<\/p>\n

Since assuming this chair in the past year, Dottie Mann has attempted to become a working part of the West Central Cluster of UU congregations, attending meetings and arranging for our UU to host the Annual Meeting in May. Her goal was to figure out the Cluster and bring back information about what Cluster churches were doing so interested persons could attend. For example, at least twenty of us attended a Saturday of workshops in St. Pete last November.<\/p>\n

Dottie’s goal for this year is to identify and involve others to attend Cluster meetings with her and effectively\u00a0 follow through on projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
