ABOUT AUDREY AULD: FROM TASMANIA TO TAMPA'S UU DOME VIA SAN QUENTIN & NASHVILLE:
"Do believe the hype" ~ Matt Kramer, Pacific Sun, CA; "heartfelt and authentic" ~ LA Daily News; "This beautiful songbird has a voice that I am sure is making Tammy Wynette smile in heaven"
~bluntreview.com; "Her well-written, classic-country-style songs are a joy, all delivered with a Loretta Lynn cry in her voice." ~ Sing Out! Magazine
Devils aren't the only thing to come from Tasmania. Although she now lives in Nashville, Singer-songwriter Audrey Auld ( who got her start in music with the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra) comes from Tasmania too. Audrey is a memorable and
uplifting entertainer, a spontaneous comedienne and a writer of humorous, provocative and soulful songs. A touring singer-songwriter, she won the 2006 MerleFest Song Contest with her winning song "Losing Faith" which she performed for a thrilled MerleFest crowd.
She has several recordings to her credit, including her debut CD 'Looking Back to See' (1999). 'Losing Faith' (2003) is a dark haunting release that put Audrey on the map in the US with Americana radio. After its release, she began touring the states opening shows for Todd Snider, Fred Eaglesmith and Kevin
Welch among others. By 2004 she had married and had become a United States resident and was living in Stinson Beach near San Francisco where she quickly became a favorite on local stations KRSH, KRCB and KPIG, playing frequently for Sleepy John's local shows and touring the region. "I have
hosted over 700 live music shows on KPIG radio, and, if asked to give the top 10 performers Audrey Auld would be on that list. She has a great voice and writes serious songs and humorous songs that make you think and laugh, but the best part is that she is a great entertainer." ~ Sleepy John, KPIG Radio
In addition to her other "regular" gigs in California, San Quentin Prison also became a regular gig for Audrey via her involvement with the Bread and Roses organization. Her initial performance to a captive audience led to ongoing songwriting workshops with the inmates.
2010 finds Audrey living in East Nashville with her husband, dogs and chickens, writing songs and touring across the country with stops along the way where she delights audiences with folk songs from her homeland, some of which she has recently recorded in response to requests from fans. Her new EP
'Billabong Song' (2009) is an acoustic collection of songs that are an integral part of the fabric of Australian culture, a poem from 1908, plus one new song which she wrote.
ABOUT STEVIE COYLE: FROM CALIFORNIA TO TAMPA'S UU DOME VIA THE CIRCUS & THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS & THE WAYBACKS: Stevie Coyle (late of the whiz-bang string band The Waybacks) is one
lucky bum. His dad ran a radio station in southern California and brought home all the promo LPs that didn't fit the Spanish-language format. The Ventures' "Guitar Freakout," "The 50 Guitars of Tommy Garrett," and "Alvin And The Chipmunks Play The Beatles' Hits" all came home on a
single fateful day. It didn't hurt, either, that string-meister David Lindley played in a bluegrass band that rehearsed right next door and gave Stevie his very first lessons, or that his dear Granny was a pianist in the heyday of vaudeville or that his sainted mother was a whiz in mandolin orchestras during the 1930s.
Not even Several years of playing Folk Masses every Sunday could quash Stevie's musical spirit, and then in high school he began fingerpicking, inspired - as so many others were, by that first Hot Tuna album.
After securing degrees in Theatre and Theology at Santa Clara University, he hit the road for three years with The Royal Lichtenstein Circus. Once back home, he signed on as actor and stage manager for The San Jose Repertory Company. He announced killer whale shows. His best friend was an elephan! He and his
good pal Roy Zimmerman have worked closely in several collaborations over the past 25 years, including folk tribute / parody band The Foremen and comedy duo The Reagan Bros. Stevie also appeared on Cheers and in many television commercials and had a regular role on The Young And The Restless.
He later played in the folk duos The Frontmen and The Back Room Boys. In 1999 he co-founded and fronted The Waybacks band. From 2001 through 2007 the band released four albums and toured steadily, appearing at major festivals such as Merlefest, Grey Fox, Floydfest, Great Waters, Old Settlers, Bumbershoot and
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. The band also toured Australia and collaborated with Lloyd Maines, Michelle Shocked and Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead.
Stevie's gone solo now and spends a lot of time touring. He plays 6-string acoustic guitar, baritone and Weissenborn-style lap steel guitars and he sings. He talks quite a bit too. He recently completed and released his first solo CD, called "Ten-In-One," produced by singer/songwriter and
guitar guru Walter Strauss.
ABOUT THE AUDREY AULD & STEVIE COYLE DOUBLE BILL CONCERT AT THE UU DOME: This will be one sure-fire entertaining & uplifting show. Dont ya dare miss it!
